Medical ProductsVEI’s developments include proprietary chemistry for detecting specific enzymes or proteins of bacteria, which are the cause of specific infectious diseases. VEI’s chemistry is highly accurate and sensitive, easy to use, does not require additional equipment, provides fast results and is stored at room temperature. VEI medical tests provide on the spot results
in 10 minutes. A
patient sample is obtained on a swab, a VEI reagent is
introduced to the swab. After 10 minutes, a second VEI reagent is introduced to the
swab. If positive,
a color change will be seen.
Other rapid diagnostic tests on the market utilize lateral flow antigen
detection. The
antigen tests for point of care use require many steps to
perform, may require additional equipment, and are only about
65% accurate. Additional diagnostic systems on the market are NAAT or PCR, which requires expensive laboratory equipment, trained technicians, require complicated steps to perform the test, and days before test results are obtained. NAAT/PCR are known to replicate DNA from dead cells, thus providing false positive results. NAAT/PCR are also compromised by inhibitory factors, which can lead to false negative results. Some NAAT/PCR equipment has been unable to detect mutant strains of Chlamydia, and other bacteria. VEI’s technology detects a specific enzyme or protein from live viable cells, and will not produce false positive results. There are also no inhibitory factors that will cause false negative results with Vista’s technology. VEI’s technology will detect mutant strains of Chlamydia. Examples of organisms for which tests have been developed include, Group A Streptococcus, Group B Streptococcus, Chlamydia trachomatis, Candida albicans, Gonorrhea neisseria, Bacterial vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Amines, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus aureus methicillin resistant, Trichomonas, Chlamydia pneumoniae. Development for additional tests is ongoing, and VEI can custom make tests per customer request. Some tests will soon be available through BioVei Incorporated.
