MoniTek

Screening for Bacterial Contamination on Surfaces
Rapid Test For:
  • Food Service & Preparation
  • Hospitals and Nursing Homes
  • Cosmetic Industry
  • Beverage Industry
  • Pharmaceutical Industry
  • Water Testing Industry

  • MoniTek confirms the presence or absence of surface bacteria above normal background levels
  • Results on the spot in 20 minutes
  • Three easy steps – Anyone can perform the test
  • No extra equipment needed
  • Identifies actual bacteria, not ATP or sugars
  • Detects the presence of Biofilm
  • No instrumentation or laboratory necessary
  • Accuracy greater than 98% if more than 1,000 organisms present per test strip, when compared to traditional methods

Culture:

Grow up time of 24 to 48 hour incubation

ATP:

Detects ATP only. ATP does not differentiate between bacteria and any other organic cell (animal or vegetable). It is well established in the literature that greater than 1,000 CFU/ml of microorganisms must be present on the swab for an ATP test to be valid.

Spot Check:

Detects only sugar. Does not differentiate between bacteria and sugar residual.

MoniTek is an enzyme detection system consisting of synthetic substrates which, in the presence of enzymes specific to microorganisms, causes a chemical reaction.

This reaction, when coupled to a developing agent, causes a color to appear on the filter membrane.

  1. Add 1 - 2 drops of Reagent A to the membrane of the MoniTek test strip.

  2. Obtain a specimen by rubbing a surface with the test strip.

  3. Add 1 - 2 drops of Reagent B to membrane of the test strip.

  4. Wait 20 minutes

  5. Add 1 -2 drops of Reagent C to the membrane of the test strip.

  6. Wait 1-2 minutes.

  7. Immediately read the test results on the test strip.

A purple color is a positive reaction.

Vista Enterprises Incorporated (VEI) MoniTek kits are designed to serve as a screening tool to look for “hot spots” that contain unacceptable levels of bacterial contamination.

Because MoniTek is inexpensive, fast and easy to use, more frequent monitoring and testing can be performed.

VEI can custom design kits for customers that have specific requests such as for a specific bacteria or a particular level of detection.

Please contact VEI if you have such a request.
